About the FCB!

Welcome to the website for the Florence Community Band.  The band is based in Florence, a village of Northampton, Massachusetts.

The Florence Community Band was founded on April 18, 2001. Our first rehearsal took place at the Florence Congregational Church, with 10 members in attendance.

Today, our membership roster totals over 75!

We are funded solely through donations.  There are no dues, and concerts are free, but we do request a donation of a non-perishable food item for the Northampton Survival Center.

  • From September-June, rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings at the Northampton High School Band Room, 7-9 p.m.
  • From June-August, rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings at John F. Kennedy Middle School, 7-8:30 p.m.

Everyone is welcome. There are no auditions required.

Upcoming Events

Rehearsals will continue at Northampton High School until the Northampton Family Fourth Concert.

We need help with volunteers for the Family Fourth, to work the ticket booths, help with band set up and break down, to pick up percussion equipment at JFK and return it (need big truck).

Email Gretchen if you can help with the Family Fourth ticket booths

Email Priscilla if you can help with percussion wrangling (Thursday or Friday before, returning on Monday), stage setup and breakdown.

More details about each concert will follow, prior to each date.

Times on schedule are downbeat – assume a 1/2 hour arrival prior to each gig.

Wednesday, July 8th we will either have a rehearsal OR a concert on the road.

We will take a 2 week break in August, then resume at JFK to prep for Transperformance (if we are in) and the Community Band Festival.

I am sure I have gotten something wrong here, but we will correct as necessary!!
